Each year thousands of people go without these basic necessities simply because they have no way to get to them. People who are homebound, disabled, on fixed incomes, can’t drive, seniors, forgotten, abandoned and alone with no one to help and no way to get the things they need.
For some, a delivery isn’t just convenient. It’s the only way they’ll eat this week, or get their insulin supply. It’s the difference between having what they need… or going without again.
Crosstown Runzzz strives to fill that gap — by providing an essential lifeline for those facing transportation and mobility related barriers. What Is a Food Desert?
A food desert is a geographic area where residents have limited access to affordable, nutritious food — especially fresh fruits, vegetables, and groceries.
In most cases, this means: No full-service grocery store within 1 mile in urban areas, or No store within 10 miles in rural areas
People living in food deserts often rely on gas stations, corner stores, or fast food for daily meals — because they have no other option.
